More funding on the way for trapping groups

A pest-control funding trial that gave community groups better access to vital resources was so successful in 2025 it’s coming back later this year.

The Small Scale Community Initiatives Hub Fund helped nine groups across Central and South Waikato by providing more than 320 traps, 1.5 tonnes of lure, pest plant control supplies, monitoring equipment, and other essential resources.

By purchasing through Go Eco's Buyers Collective, the funding achieved 17% greater purchasing power, delivering an additional $5000 worth of product to local conservation groups compared to each group purchasing supplies at retail prices.

Groups also told us they valued the fund’s straightforward application process, the regular communication, and the ability to receive tailored support without the usual administrative burden.

The SSCI Hub F is funded by the Waikato Regional Council and another round of funding will open later this year through our Central Waikato Predator Free Hub.

So if your group is looking for support with pest animal or pest plant control, keep an eye on our newsletter and Facebook page for application dates and details.
