Hamilton City Council has sponsored this learning portal with Sustainable Living Aotearoa so you can go online and download the learning guides, free.
Lifestyles are changing, in a warmer, more resource-hungry world. Are you ready? The Sustainable Living Programme is a practical, fun way to learn and use actions which reduce your environmental impacts. It offers you future living skills for a healthier lifestyle and a new approach to making consumer choices. To access the resources, you will need to become a member (there is no charge) at https://sustainableliving.org.nz/ and log in.From the learning guides, see how to make a healthier, drier and warmer home and how you can easily reduce your waste to landfill. Other topics to explore are: home food growing,
- water efficiency,
- avoiding toxic chemicals,
- smart food shopping and preserving tips,
- reducing your power bill,
- eco-building design or house renovation suggestions,
- lower-carbon transport options, and
- community resilience.
All have a practical focus and are independent of commercial bias. Prefer to learn as group? We will be running a series of Future Living Conversations covering all these topics at Chartwell Library on Thursday evenings starting May 11.
